As the urban hub of the Lehigh Valley, Allentown is a vibrant, sustainable, and welcoming 21st-century city. The Allentown Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting smart growth throughout the city. AEDC works closely with the City of Allentown's Department of Economic Development and local Economic Development partners to advance economic growth and job creation in Allentown through real estate development and financial incentive programs. AEDC is committed to improving Allentown's economy by remediating brownfields, revitalizing blighted properties, stabilizing neighborhoods, expanding commercial enterprise within the community and connecting investors to opportunities. Over the years AEDC has collaborated its partners on projects including the America On Wheels Museum on Lehigh Landing, the redevelopment of a brownfield site into the Bridgeworks by the Creek Industrial Center, and the assemblage of deteriorated downtown properties to facilitate the development of The Plaza at PPL Center and the Butz Corporate Center. Many of AEDC's projects capitalize on the benefits of the State of Pennsylvania's Enterprise Zone and Keystone Opportunity Zone (KOZ) Programs. These programs offer specific benefits and powerful incentives to businesses interested in relocating to or expanding in the City of Allentown. AEDC also runs the Bridgeworks Enterprise Center, a small business incubator located in the heart of Allentown's historically industrial zone. AEDC is dedicated to the development and execution of comprehensive community-based plans for improving Allentown. |
