Keystone Opportunity Zones in Allentown, PaThe Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development has spearheaded the renewal of the successful Keystone Opportunity Zone (KOZ) program. You can learn more about the program at their web site or by downloading a fact sheet here. Keystone Opportunity Zones have had a tremendous positive influence in Allentown, bringing over $100 million in investment and creating over 100 jobs. The Keystone Opportunity Zone program resulted in the development of the Butz Corporate Center, the Plaza at PPL Center, the America On Wheels Museum, the Townes at Trexler Square, Bridgeworks by the Creek Industrial Center, Center Square Apartments and the Allentown Brew Works. The tax benefits at the existing Keystone Opportunity Zone sites in the City of Allentown will expire on December 31, 2010, but you can still take advantage. There is still space available at the Townes at Trexler Square, the Plaza at PPL Center, Butz Corporate Center, and Bridgeworks by the Creek Industrial Center. There are also development opportunities available at the undeveloped sites on the Keystone Opportunity Zone list, including Lehigh Landing, Allentown Parking Authority Lots, and the Neuweiler Brewery. AEDC is working with the City of Allentown's Department of Community and Economic Development, Allentown City Council, the Allentown School District, and the County of Lehigh to create new Keystone Opportunity Zone sites for the future. Stay tuned for more information.
